Global climate change is a complex issue. Teaching about climate change is conceptually challenging. It requires teachers to be knowledgeable about climate change, its causes and consequences. Yet, research indicates that educators have a limited understanding of climate change and climate action. However, simply learning about climate change is not sufficient as this presents climate change as an abstract entity far removed from daily living. Students need to learn about, through and for climate action and climate justice. Students should be able to understand the processes which contribute to climate change and discuss its impact on living things, people and the environment. Furthermore, they need to be able to propose solutions and take climate actions individually and collaboratively. This chapter assists teachers to present the complexities of climate change in an age-appropriate manner. With a particular focus on climate change games, the chapter discusses the potential for students to engage with climate discussions in an innovative, enjoyable fashion.
