Abstract

This chapter will explore the implementation of Goal 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (ensuring the health of all and promoting the well-being of all at all ages) to Senior Primary and Junior Post-Primary school students. There will be a particular focus on the transition between primary and post-primary school, in the context of promoting good mental health as outlined in Goal 3. The Wellbeing Policy Statement and Framework for Practice (DES, 2019), a key policy document in current Irish education, will be used as a means of achieving a holistic approach in the achievement of this goal. At the time of writing this chapter, Irish schools welcomed hundreds of children from Ukraine. Hence, this chapter includes specific consideration to refugee students.
