Keith Young is an Assistant Professor of ICT and Digital Learning in the Department of STEM Education at Mary Immaculate College. He holds a B.Tech. (Ed) in Materials and Engineering Technology and a PhD in Education from the University of Limerick, as well as an MSc in Software Design with Artificial Intelligence from TUS.
 
With over a decade of experience in teacher education, Keith has supported both undergraduate and postgraduate students across a variety of disciplines. He has previously held academic positions at the University of Limerick, Hibernia College, and most recently Maynooth University.
 

Research interests

Keith’s primary interests lie in developing teachers’ capacity to engage meaningfully and critically with digital technologies in their practice. His research interests include areas such as teacher education, digital competence/literacy, educational technology and inclusive education. A significant focus of his current work is the ethical use of artificial intelligence in education, particularly in developing approaches that enhance teacher practice and support student learning, alongside a broader exploration of how emerging AI technologies are shaping the education sector.
