Research interests

Teaching Non-Fiction in the Infant Classes: My doctoral research is based on the use of information texts in infant classes. This research seeks to explore how teachers can support young children in effectively understanding informational texts through authentic purpose and explicit instruction.

New Literacies: Under the supervision of Dr.Martin Gleeson, my Master's thesis explored the use of online reading comprehension strategies in primary education. I am particularly interested in understanding how we can support primary aged children to read effectively online.

Literacy Curriculum and Policy: I spent a number of years working as a PDST/Oide Advisor. During this time, I was involved in supporting teachers in navigating curricula and policy changes. Since then, I have had an avid interest in literacy curriculum and policy.
